Dum or not, Vivek-fever continues
The poor collections of Dum have not dampened Vivek Oberoi's spirits. "It was so strange. On Day 1, there were 5,000 people at one theatre. On Day 2, the crowd had dwindled to 500." Oberoi says he had reservatio
ns about the second half of Dum.
On the other hand, he is pleased with Saathiya's performance at the BO. "It is doing very well all over. Saathiya has made many times more money than the original Tamil Alai Payuthey."
Meanwhile, he continues to shoot round the clock. "I conduct all my interviews late at night when I can make some time."
Ekta casts Sohail
Ekta Kapoor's next film is a campus horror film. Again, after Kucch To Hai. "This time," says she, it is "not a slasher film. And no Tusshar either. It will be directed by Santram who does my serial Kahin Kissi Roz."
Ekta had thought of signing Aftab Shivdasani for the film. But now, this small-budget (aka Rs 3.5 crore
) quickie will star Sohail Khan.
The film will also feature Ekta's discovery Natassha, who featured in Kucch To Hai, television star Hiten Tejwani (Pratham in Kutumb), Imran, Vrijesh Hirjee and Johnny Lever. The film will go on the floors in August.
Things look up for Priyanshu
The favourable reviews he got for Dil Ka Rishta appear to have brightened Priyanshu Chatterjee's career prospects. "Credit for that must go to director Naresh Malhotra," says Priyanshu who is currently shooting the last lap of his next release Chandraprakash Dwivedi's period drama Pinjar in Surat.
About Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai, Priyanshu says, "To be honest I wasn't surprised by its failure
. I could see things going wrong during its making. There was nothing I could do about it."
Known for his frankness Priyanshu says he doesn't mind losing out on assignments as long as he does and says what he feels. Apparently, Ekta Kapoor wants to sign him for a film.
Discovering John and Bipasha
Did you know director Anubhav Sinha (Tum Bin, Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai) first discovered both John Abraham and Bipasha Basu?
"Bipasha had done two music videos with Sonu Nigam for me. That was her first exposure to the moving camera. As for John, I screen-tested him for Rakesh Bapat's role in Tum Bin. After the screen test, John said he wasn't ready for a career in films." 
Sinha is now looking at a script with an army background for which he wants Anil Kapoor in the lead. Incidentally, Arjun Sablok (Na Tum Jaano Na Hum) is also thinking of a film with Anil Kapoor.
