Vivek and Kareena to star togetherKareena, Fardeen in Khushi

This year seems to mark a new beginning for Kareena Kapoor. Her forthcoming Khushi has good advance reports. The actress says, "[Costar] Fardeen and I have done zany things. I don't think any heroine would dare to do the kind of comedy I've done here."

She is all set to work with Abbas-Mustan who directed her in Ajnabee. Kareena will feature in an author-backed role with Vivek Oberoi. This dynamic combination should get tradewallahs excited.

Though Kareena has not signed on the dotted line, she has agreed to "the role of a lifetime that will shock audiences" in Abbas-Mustan's film. Says Kareena, "I am changing my look for all three films by Abbas-Mustan, Govind Nihalani and Dharmesh Darshan. For the first two, I have got a new designer. The same person who did the clothes in Dil Chahta Hai."

Meanwhile, Kareena who is known to be rigid about her remuneration, is also set to shoot for Nihalani's cop movie Devaa, with Fardeen Khan.

According to the buzz, she is doing Nihalani's film for a nominal fee. "I guess it took me three years to come to the point in my career where my sister and I can vie for the same roles," she laughs.

Three years ago, Kareena had been offered Deepa Mehta's Water. She turned it down saying she was too inexperienced to handle such a role. "But now I can take on any role," she says confidently.

Vivek excited about DumVivek [left] in Saathiya

Since Saathiya's release, Vivek Oberoi's career has taken off in a big way.

"But I am aware that whatever goes up must come down," he whispers cautiously.

"My new film Dum is very mass-oriented. And yes, there's quite a lot of excitement surrounding it. I hope I can give a satisfactory performance."

Right now he is rushing to many cities as possible on promotional tours. "But I can't do as much for the film as I want."

For patriarch Harivanshrai Bachchan, the situation is grim. Amitabh has been taking as much time off as possible from his schedules to be at his ailing dad's bedside, rushing home late at night to be with his parents. Abhishek, who has been shooting in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, for a month, was asked by his dad to rush back to Mumbai to be near his granddad.
