Now, Nepal has its own film awards, too!

The fledgling Nepalese film industry had its moments of glory in the first ever Lux Film Awards, held amidst much fanfare.

Rajesh Hamal and Jal Shah were declared the Best Actor and Best Actress at a function held at the Birendra International Convention Centre. Hamal bagged the award for Muktidata and Jal Shah for Buhari.

Noted comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha won the Best Supporting Actor Award, while Gauri Malla won the Best Supporting Actress Award. Haribansha Jha won the award for the Best Actor in a Comic Role went to Haribansha Jha.

Shiva Regmi was declared director of the year. And Sambhujit Banskota was adjudged Music Director of the year.

Popular Bollywood singer Udit Narayan bagged the award for Best Playback Singer. The award was received by Sachin Singh, as Udit was not present.

Altogether, 21 films competed for the awards in 11 categories for the Lux Film Awards.
