National Awards: Ayushmann, Vicky share Best Actor

The 66th National Awards have been announced, and Hindi cinema has emerged a major winner.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal shared the Best Actor award for their roles in Andhadhun and Uri: The Surgical Strike, respectively.

The Gujarati film Hellaro was declared the Best Film along with Andhadhun. Andhadhun also won an award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

 

Aditya Dhar won the Best Director award for his debut film, Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Keerthy Suresh won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of the yesteryear star Savitri in the Telugu film, Mahanati.

Badhaai Ho was adjudged the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and veteran actor Surekha Sikri bagged the Best Supporting Actress for her role of a cantankerous matriarch.

Singer-lyricist Swanand Kirkire won the Best Supporting Actor award for Marathi film, Chumbak.

 

Akshay Kumar-starrer PadMan was named the Best Film on Social Issues.

 

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, which faced a lot of controversy during its release, walked away with the Best Choreography for the Ghoomer song and the Best Music Director award for Bhansali. Its song Binte Dil landed Arijit Singh the Best Male Playback Singer recognition.

Rima Das' Bulbul Can Sing won the Best Assamese Film while Hamid got the Best Urdu Film.
