Meera Jasmine to make her comeback

The latest updates from the Malayalam film industry.

Meera Jasmine will play a cop in editor-turned-director Don Max’s directorial debut, Pathu Kalpanakal.

Apart from Meera, the film will also mark the return of legendary singer S Janaki. The rest of the cast includes Anoop Menon, Murali Gopy, Kaniha and Anumol.

The shooting of Pathu Kalpanakal will commence in Idukki later this month.

Meera Jasmine, one of the finest actresses in Malayalam cinema, had found success in Tamil as well but she left the scene after her marriage two years ago.

Biju Menon starrer Leela releasing this weekend

Filmmaker Ranjith had considered Mammootty, Mohanlal, Sankar Ramakrishnan and Murali Gopy to play the lead in Leela.

Finally, he cast Biju Menon as the lead character named Kuttiyappan. Parvathy Nambiar is the heroine.

Leela is based on Unni R’s popular short story.

The film, which is releasing on April 22, will be available online on an official portal for viewers outside India from the same day itself.

Leela has cinematography by Prasanth Raveendran and music by Bijibal.

Kunchacko Boban gets busy

With the release of his film Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti coming up, Kunchacko Boban is living out of a suitcase.

The hero, who played an accused in Rajesh Pillai’s Vettah this year, is shooting for three films in a row. His other films include Rosshan Andrrews’ School Bus and Boban Samuel’s Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum.

Kunchacko has also revived his family banner Udaya Pictures, producing his forthcoming film Kochouvva Paulho Ayyappa Coelho, besides playing the hero.

Sidhartha Siva, who has earlier directed films like 101 Chodyangal, Zahir and Ain, will helm this project. 

Meanwhile, Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti has Shamli making her debut as a heroine in Malayalam.
