Malayalam actress Kalpana dies

KalpanaMalayalam actress Kaplana, who was last seen in Martin Prakkat's Charlie, passed away on Monday, January 25, in Hyderabad.

Her sudden demise has not only shocked her fans but the entire film fraternity down South.

Kalpana, 51, was rushed to hospital after she was found unconscious in her hotel room in Hyderabad.

The doctors declared she was brought dead. Though no official announcement has been made, it is being said that the versatile actress suffered a cardiac arrest.

Kalpana, who has acted in more than 300 films, was in Hyderabad to shoot for a Tamil and a Telugu film. She was also there to attend the HAIFA awards ceremony.

The Malayalam actress made her debut in 1983 with M.T. Vasudevan Nair's film Manj. Since then there was no looking back for this supremely talented actress who made her mark in comedy genre. 

Kalpana was highly praised for her performance in Sathi Leelavathi and Tamil comedy Pammal K. Sambandam.

She even bagged the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her film Thanichalla Njan in 2011.
