Civic lesson for Liz-Nayar before 'black tie' party

March 06, 2007 21:48 IST

Wedding celebrations for actress Liz Hurley and businessman Arun Nayar ran into some trouble with the Mumbai civic authorities demolishing part of a stage constructed near the residence of socialite Parmeshwar Godrej for the party she is hosting for the couple on Tuesday night.

"There was a structure constructed on the beach in front of the house, which was in violation of a high court ruling. As a result, a few residents of the ward took up the issue with the authorities and a part of the structure was demolished on Tuesday morning," Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said.

The structure had been constructed on the beach near the sea-facing Godrej bungalow in suburban Juhu.

Parmeshwar Godrej, wife of Godrej Industries chairman Adi Godrej, is scheduled to host an exclusive 'black tie' party for the newly-wed

couple and a number of celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, his wife Gauri, as well as several guests who have flown in from London, are expected to attend.

The couple, who tied the knot three days ago in Britain and arrived in Mumbai on Monday, attended another party thrown in their honour by a top industrialist on Monday night.

The wedding party will fly to Jodhpur on Wednesday where the last leg of the wedding celebrations will begin. Traditional dancers, a mehendi ceremony and an Indian style wedding ceremony await the Hollywood actress at the Umaid Bhavan palace.
