Drug case: Fardeen Khan gets some relief

January 24, 2008 17:52 IST

Fardeen Khan was acquitted from the charge of procuring 9 gm of cocaine, which would have got a stringent punishment. Additional Sessions Judge P N Deshmukh charged the actor for attempting to buy 1 gm of the drug five years ago, which attracts a lesser penalty.

Khan was caught in Mumbai by the police while attempting to buy cocaine from a drug peddler -- from whom 9 gms of the drug was seized -- in 2002.

During the trial, the actor told the court that he was attempting to buy only 1 gm of the drug and hence should not be charged for a bigger quantity.
