Katrina is Rajinikanth heroine in Enthiran 2?

September 03, 2015 14:15 IST

A lowdown on what's happening in the Tamil film industry.

Rajnikanth and Katrina Kaif

The speculation over who will star opposite Rajinikanth in Enthiran 2 have been rife since a long time.

According to latest reports, director Shankar has approached Katrina Kaif for the role, but there hasn't been an official announcement yet.

Katrina was also the original choice for Rajinikanth's 3D motion-capture film Kochdaiiyaan, before it was offered to Deepika Padukone.

Earlier, there were rumors that Aamir Khan would play the antagonist in the film, but even that fizzled out.

Shankar’s preference for working with top Bollywood actors is well known.

Manisha Koirala was part of his earlier films Indian and Mudhalvan, while Aishwarya Rai played the female lead in Jeans and Enthiran and Amy Jackson was roped in for Shankar's magnum opus I, which released earlier this year.

With pre-production work on in full swing, announcements are likely to be made soon.

So will it be the gorgeous Katrina opposite Superstar Rajinikanth in this mega Rs 300 crore project that is expected to be bigger than the spectacular epic Bahubali?

Suriya's Haiku has been renamed Pasanga 2

After the huge success of 36 Vayadhinile, Suriya is now producing a children's film that will shed some light on attention deficit disorder (ADD) among children.

Directed by the Pandiraj, the film was earlier titled Haiku, but has been renamed as Pasanga 2, to take advantage of the tax exemption for films with Tamil titles.

Pasanga, which was also a children's film directed by Pandiraj, had won three National Film Awards.

In addition to being the producer, Suriya will also be seen in a cameo in the film along with Amala Paul.

The film features three new child artists -- Kavin, Nayana and Abhiman.
