Filmmaker Karan Johar met Mumbai police commissioner, D Sivanandan with 15 exhibitors and multiplex owners in relation to the release of his latest film My Name is Khan.
Sivanandan, in turn, assured them that full police protection would be given to the film.
"I am happy because D Sivanandan has assured us that there will be protection given by Mumbai police at all the places where My Name is Khan will release," Johar told reporters.
My Name is Khan got embroiled in a controversy after its leading actor Shah Rukh Khan expressed his opinion that Pakistani players should be allowed to take part in the Indian Premier League cricket matches this year.
In reaction to his statement, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray stated that Shah Rukh must apologise for his statement. The actor, however, did not. Later, both parties seemed to back down.
My Name is Khan is now releasing as per schedule on February 12, and its advance booking has opened across India.
