John Abraham, who turns 48 on December 17, has been in the industry for 17 years now.

He made his debut on the big screen debut with 2003's Jism when he was 31.

He is one of the few actors who debuted at the start of the millennium and is still doing well today, the other being Hrithik Roshan.

While he awaits an exciting 2021 with Mumbai Saga, Satyameva Jayate 2, Attack and Pathan, Joginder Tuteja takes a look at John's top 10 hits.

 

Housefull 2
Box office collection: Rs 116 crore

Over the years, John has ensured that he doesn't get typecast in a particular image.

Be it action, comedy or drama, he has scored in all the genres.

His biggest hit till date stays is Housefull 2 where he was seen in a comic avatar.

With Akshay Kumar as his co-star, John made sure he entertained the audiences with his comic timing.

 

Race 2
Box office collection: Rs 100.45 crore

John's Race 2 hit a century at the box office too.

John brought in style, glamour and action to the second installment of the Race franchise, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor and Bipasha Basu.

He played the antagonist, and added to his fan base with his villainous act.

 

Batla House
Box office collection: Rs 99.50 crore

In recent years, John has been doing quite well with his solo starrers and Batla House just missed out on hitting a century.

This Nikkhil Advani directed dramatic entertainer, based on a real life incident, had the actor in his element.

 

Welcome Back
Box office collection: Rs 97 crore

John scored a hit in the comedy Welcome Back.

A sequel to Anees Bazmee's Welcome, this one had Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar reprising their parts.

The film featured the otherwise suave actor as a 'tapori'.

 

Satyameva Jayate
Box office collection: Rs 90 crore

When Satyameva Jayate clashed with Akshay Kumar's Gold on the Independence Day weekend, not many gave it a chance to score beyond a certain limit.

But it doubled the expectations and ended up not just opening huge but sustaining well too.

John impressed big time in an out and out action avatar and is returning with the second in the franchise.

 

Dishoom
Box office collection: Rs 70 crore

An action comedy, this cop drama had John pair up with Varun Dhawan.

While Varun brought in the comic element, John kept a straight face, where he meant only business.

A stylish affair that was set and shot in the Middle East, Dishoom was a decent success.

 

Parmanu: The Story of Pokharan
Box office collection: Rs 65 crore

A well intentioned film that told the true story of India's nuclear mission, this Abhishek Sharma directed film was a nail-biting drama that impressed critics as well as audiences.

John acted as well as produced the film.

 

Shootout at Wadala
Box office collection: Rs 60 crore

Director Sanjay Gupta has a knack of presenting his heroes in true macho style on screen and that was exactly how John looked as well in Shootout at Wadala.

An underworld saga where John locked horns with Anil Kapoor's cop character, this one was noticed for its style and dialoguebaazi.

 

Dostana
Box office collection: Rs 50 crore

With a story that a gay couple (albeit fake) on screen, Dostana was an experiment that could have gone either way.

But John took the plunge and the results were there to be seen.

The film was accepted well by the audiences.

This was also the film where John showcased his chiseled body like never before.

 

New York
Box office collection: Rs 45.40 crore

Even though John had done quite a few dramatic films, audiences saw him in a new light in the Yash Raj Film, New York.

As an innocent man turned terrorist, John was a revelation in this Kabir Khan directed film which featured him in an author-backed role.
