Harry Potter author JK Rowling has announced that she will be creating movies based on a minor character from her acclaimed series.
Rowling’s film, in collaboration with Warner Bros, will feature Newt Scamander, who is the author of Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Stuff.co.nz reported.
According to the 48-year-old writer’s 42-page textbook published in 2001,
Scamander is a magizoologist, who studies magical creatures.
The fictional character also writes about 75 magical species he learnt about during years of travel across five continents.
>Warner Bros said that the series would feature an original story, which will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut.
Rowling said that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would neither be a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, rather an extension of the wizarding world.
