What if we made X-Men in India?

We've already reimagined a desi Avengers and Fantastic Four.

How about an X-Men wishlist with Indian actors to boot?

In the recently released X-Men: Apocalypse, an ancient eponymous mutant, returns from the dead to revamp civilisation by wiping off the entire human race even as Professor Xavier and Magneto join hands to ruin his nefarious scheme.

Admit it, the idea of Bollywood heroes and heroines as mutants with extraordinary superpowers caught between clashing ideologies sounds like a whole lot of FUN.

Aamir Khan, Professor Charles Xavier aka Professor X

Loves peace, talks sense, a philanthropic at heart and a mighty telepath, Professor X is all for coexistence between man and mutants.

Aamir Khan's propriety is tailor-made for such a righteous, straight-lined, composed and conscientious X-Men boss.

 

Shah Rukh Khan, Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto

Unlike Professor X, frenemy Magneto wants absolute mutant supremacy; this irresolvable disagreement is the reason behind Magneto and Professor X's falling-out.

Only Shah Rukh Khan's charisma and rebellious persona could do Magneto justice every time he shows off his sheer mind control in lifting submarines or deflecting missiles.

Also, just the thought of seeing these two face off is exciting. 

 

Kamal Haasan, En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse

Nobody does prosthetics better than Kamal Haasan. And, when he chooses, he can be super menacing too.

The veteran's hefty, unbeatable presence is exactly the sort of blockbuster villainy the desi version of Apocalypse needs.

 

Kangana Ranaut, Raven Darkholme aka Mystique

We've already witnessed Kangana Ranaut's shape-shifting skills as the mutant Kaya in Krrish 3.

Would be nice to see Bollywood's most outspoken and unconventional lady slip into Mystique's curvaceous blue skin, unable to decide whether she wants to stay bad or good until she realises she doesn't need to take sides.

 

Sushant Singh Rajput, Hank McCoy aka Beast

His nervous energy and endearing ways are just what the nerdy Beast needs while underplaying his superhuman strength and questioning his blue werewolf physicality. Never one to pass on a good challenge, Sushant Singh Rajput may just be able to deliver.

 

Sidharth Malhotra, Scott Summers aka Cyclops

Who better than Sidharth Malhotra to play a hip mutant sporting trendy sunglasses?

As Cyclops, all he has to do is look hunky, dress hunky and unleash optical beam hell every time he takes off those designer shades. Not much different from what the lad does anyway.

 

Alia Bhatt, Jean Grey aka Phoenix

It's only fair that the Student Of The Year star should be Professor X's best pupil too. Young Jean Grey's struggle to sink in all the information that comes through the gift (and curse) of telepathy as well as wield her ability to create enormous cosmic fire would truly flourish under a fresh and fabulous Alia Bhatt.  

 

Lisa Haydon, Elizabeth Braddock aka Psylocke

Lisa Haydon in that costume is all the super power she really needs. Throw in some telepathy, telekinesis and a sparkling purple sword and Haydon's Psylocke is good to go.

 

Athiya Shetty, Ororo Munroe aka Storm

A girl wonder who can design tempestuous weather simply by rolling her big, pronounced eyes but is drawn to the dark side until she knows better, Athiya Shetty's big, bold orbs could both work a storm and play one.  

 

Tiger Shroff, Peter Maximoff aka Quicksilver

Tiger Shroff's nimble limbs are just what he needs to play Quicksilver, a mutant known for his supersonic speed in movement and thought.
