Last updated on: June 12, 2019 16:32 IST

Three time National Award winner Mammootty is all set to bring to us one of the biggest films of his life, Mamangam.

It is inspired by a festival called Mamangam.

Mammootty will be seen playing a mysterious character with multiple looks in the film.

Mamangam was a religious festival which was held once in 12 years at Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharatapuzha river, in Kerala.

For 280 years, fierce battles were waged by a few men against a mighty king during the festival.

Mamangam will showcase the story of a real hero and one glorious unknown hero.

This is the first Malayalam film that will be released in four languages -- Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Set in 1695, Mamangam is one of the biggest and most expensive movies made in Malayalam.

It showcases an impressive action sequence inspired by the ancient Indian martial art, Kalaripayattu.

The action sequences are choreographed by Sham Kaushal.

Besides Mammootty, the movie stars Achutan, Sudev Nair, Sidhique, Unnimukundan, Sureshkrishna and Manikkuttan.

Mamangam is directed by M Padmakumar and produced by Venu Kunnappilly's Kavya Films.

It is slated to release in the last quarter of 2019.
