Here's a look at the overseas box office collections of Don 2.
For the first time ever, two films directed by siblings led the box office charts of Indian films in North America in 2011.
Farhan Akhtar's Don 2 -- starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra -- has grossed $3.3 million in 11 days inching past sister Zoya Akhtar's $3.1 million-grossing Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, Farhan, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin.
Both films have music by Shankar-Eshan-Loy, and lyrics by Farhan-Zoya's father Javed Akhtar. Also, both films are produced by Excel Entertainment (headed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan), with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment serving as a co-producer on Don 2.
Farhan is also featured in the soundtrack of both films.
But don't expect Don 2 to top $4 million in North America. While practically every new film in America had a strong run in the week leading to New Year, Don 2 dropped by about 67
It might ends its run with about commendable collections of $3.8 million but the days of Shah Rukh Khan who used to take a film to $4.5 million or $5 million level are gone.
The highest grossing film in America and Canada during the year end, four-day weekend was Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which earned $38 million, followed by Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows which garnered $26.8 million. Each film was down by a few million from the previous week.
But compared to Ra.One, Don 2 is a super hit. The former made a decent but unspectacular $2.5 million in North America.
Don 2 has not done proportionately a huge business in the UK, where for many years Shah Rukh was indomitable.
In all, Don 2 could end its run abroad with about $8 million.
