Remake of Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey
This Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani film leads the list.
Arjun Reddy was a small film that became reasonably big and enjoyed a good run down south.
When Shahid came into picture, Kabir Singh became HUGE and ended up doing triple the business expected from it.
Simmba
Box Office collection: Rs 240.31 crore
Remake of Temper, starring NT Rama Rao Jr and Kajal Aggarwal
Though Simmba is said to be a remake of the Telugu hit Temper, there is hardly anything common between the two films except for a couple of scenes.
The core plot of both films was similar but director Rohit Shetty changed the ambience of his Ranveer Singh-starrer and brought in a more Pan-India appeal, despite a Maharashtrian set up.
Kick
Box Office collection: Rs 232 crore
Remake of Kick, starring Ravi Teja and Ileana D'Cruz
Ravi Teja and Ileana D'Cruz paired up for a fun film in Kick.
A few years down the line, producer Sajid Nadiadwala picked up the rights of the film.
He ended up directing it, with Salman Khan leading the show.
The result? The action comedy emerged as a huge blockbuster.
Baaghi 2
Box Office collection: Rs 166 crore
Remake of Kshanam, starring Adivi Sesh and Adah Sharma
Yet another Sajid Nadiadwala film, this time he produced director Ahmed Khan's vision. And again, there was hardly any similarity between Baaghi 2 and the original Telugu film, Kshanam.
While Kshanam was made on a modest budget, Baaghi 2 was a mega actioner, and Tiger Shroff nailed it.
Bodyguard
Box Office collection: Rs 149 crore
Remake of Bodyguard, starring Dileep and Nayanthara
There wasn't much difference between the original Bodyguard and the remake but with Salman Khan in the picture, more action was added into the remake.
It was a major success.
Rowdy Rathore
Box Office collection: Rs 133 crore
Remake of Vikramarkudu, starring Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty
Rowdy Rathore deserves a sequel, and if insider reports are any indications, it's probably happening with Akshay Kumar green-lighting the project.
It was a faithful remake of the Telugu film, Vikramarkudu, and was Ravi Teja's next film after Kick which enticed Bollywood filmmakers.
Ready
Box Office collection: Rs 120 crore
Remake of Ready, starring Ram Pothineni and Genelia D'Souza
Ready was made on the same lines as the original, starring Ram Pothineni.
A family entertainer with all the ingredients of romance, emotion, music, action and comedy, it managed to score a century at the box office.
Ghajini
Box Office collection: Rs 114 crore
Remake of Ghajini, starring Suriya and Asin
The film that started it all.
Suriya's Tamil film Ghajini made its Aamir Khan-starrer remake a huge success.
In fact, it's the first film to enter the Rs 100 crore club. Both films were directed by AR Murugadoss.
Holiday
Box Office collection: Rs 113 crore
Remake of Thuppakki, starring Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal
AR Murugadoss also remade his Tamil film Thuppakki in Hindi, as the Akshay Kumar-starrer Holiday.
The film had a lot of action and told the story of an army officer trying to foil a terrorist's plan.
Son of Sardaar
Box Office collection: Rs 105 crore
Remake of Maryada Ramanna, starring Suneel, Saloni Aswani
After Ajay Devgn struck gold with the remake of the Tamil film, Singham, he went ahead and signed up SS Rajamouli's Telugu family drama, Maryada Ramanna.
Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha were signed on, and Salman Khan put in a cameo.
