Bollywood gets Comedy Honours

A month of rib-tickling comedy and insights on stars, hilarious gags and favourite comic scenes culminated in a grand finale at the Vodafone Comedy Honours 2008 on May 16, where Star Gold paid tribute to comic excellence in Indian cinema and felicitated some of the finest comic talent from Bollywood.

An advisory panel comprising of reputed film personalities like actor Satish Kaushik, director Nagesh Kukunoor and producer Vashu Bhagnani selected the winners in each category.

Rishi Kapoor was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award. "I would like to be known as a complete actor, who can do comedy. I do not know whether I am worthy of this. This is my fourth lifetime achievement award," Rishi said. 

Performer with All Round Comic Excellence was given to Anil Kapoor. "My directors have been my inspiration throughout. Whatever I am today is because of them," Anil said, while accepting the award.

Raveena Tandon was awarded Actress with Comic Excellence. She dedicated the award to Mehmood and Johnny Walker because he had 'grown up watching their comedies.' She also thanked Govinda from whom she had 'learnt what comedy timing is all about, starting with David Dhawan films.'

Director with Comic Excellence was awarded to Anees Bazmee, Actor with Comic Excellence Award went to Jaaved Jaaferi, Rising Actor with Comic Excellence to Vinay Pathak and Hrishikesh Mukherjee for Socially Relevant Comedy Film for Krazzy 4.

The Star Gold Comedy Honours 2008 grand finale was hosted by Jaaved Jaaferi, interspersed with gags by Swapnil Joshi and Sunil Grover. The audiences were also entertained by Lara Dutta's and Tusshar Kapoor's performances.
