Popular Bengali folk theatre heroine Bina Dasgupta was killed in a road accident in Burdwan, West Bengal, on Friday.
The police said the car in which Dasgupta and three others were travelling collided with a truck. They were returning from Chapui village in Raniganj police station area after a performance on Thursday night.
While Dasgupta and the driver died on the spot, her co-actor Sudipta Chatterjee and wardrobe assistant Sridhar Das were hospitalised and were in a critical condition, police said.
Dasgupta is survived by two sons. She performed in over 50 plays, including the famous Nati Binodini. Her last play was Ami Ram Rahimer Ma (I am the mother of Ram and Rahim).
