Affleck wants movie scripts not politics

May 07, 2004 17:25 IST

Ben AffleckSpeculation is rife that actor Ben Affleck may want to run for the US Congress.

Kori Bernards, spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said Congress would 'welcome a bid' from Affleck.

She added that Affleck would not have a problem getting women's votes, though she asserted that she hadn't 'heard anything about him running for Congress', according to Startraks.

If he does run for Congress, Affleck may seek to represent a district in Massachusetts, where he grew up, or in Georgia's First District, where he owns a home.

Jack Kingston, who represents the district now, has invited Affleck 'based on his pick of women and home site'.

But Affleck's spokesperson Ken Sunshine set aside the rumours by saying that the actor has no plan to run. In fact, he's 'reading movie scripts'.
