Ben Affleck could be in the running to become a future US senator.
According to CBS Boston, the 40-year-old actor is on a list of possible successors to Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the Politico reported.
Political analyst Jon Keller has heard Affleck's name being "tossed around" among others -- including Scott Brown, Rep Mike Capuano, Rep Ed Markey and Rep Stephen Lynch -- to take Kerry's seat, he said on Tuesday.
If President Barack Obama appoints Kerry as secretary of state, as expected, a special election will be held to fill his spot.
The Pearl Harbor star, a Democrat, grew up in Cambridge and actively campaigned for Elizabeth Warren, who won a Massachusetts Senate seat last month.
