Blast from the past in Billboard charts

February 10, 2006 14:13 IST

After 29 years, Barry Manilow is back to leading the charts.

The 62-year-old singer leads the Billboard 200 charts with his new album, The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties. It is followed by Mary J Blige's The Breakthrough and Andrea Bocelli's Amore.

Manilow's album includes evergreen songs like Are you lonesome tonight? and Unchained melody. It was released on January 31, and has already sold more than 156,000 copies in the United States.

The veteran singer's last chart-topper was Live (1977). His previous album Scores: Songs From Copacabana And Harmony fared poorly.
