Balki to throw star studded bash for Ilayaraja

IlayarajaVeteran composer of Tamil cinema, Ilayaraja recently completed a 1000 film scores.

While the humble legend brushes it off as 'God's will and nothing more,' his fans have big plans to commemorate the milestone. 

Director R Balki, who has worked with Ilayaraja on all his films -- Cheeni Kum, Paa and the upcoming Shamitabh -- has reportdly organised an event for January 20 in Mumbai to honour 'Raja Sir.'

"The idea is to invite filmmakers, singers, lyricists, and actors who have worked with Raja Sir in his illustrious career.

"Balki will dig out the people who matter -- from S Janaki and P Susheela, who sang in Ilayaraja's first soundtrack Annakili, to Amitabh Bachchan, who has done playback for a song in Shamitabh, they will all be there," a source informs.

Bollywood legend Lata Mangeshkar,  who worked with Ilayaraja in Raj Kumar Santoshi's Lajja, is also expected to attend.

Balki confirmed the news about the impending January 20 celebrations.
