It was the media briefing organised by Mumbai-based Wizcraft International Entertainment to announce their 'Unforgettable Tour' starting July 2008.
She was asked whether she was planning to have a baby. The moderator from the podium intervened to remind reporters they were not allowed to ask any question that didn't have direct bearing on 'Unforgettable' world tour of the artists.
But Aishwarya said she would answer, "I am looking forward to have a baby," she said, all smiles with Abhishek staring at her. "I am enjoying my married life, no questions about it."
She said, "I have an incredible husband and life continues." Aishwarya implied marriage does not mean start of a next phase. "Yes, there are lot more responsibilities now and life gets hectic but it (marriage) was a very conscious decision. I am very happy.
"We take life as it comes and take it every day," said Aishwarya.
Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan chose Toronto as their first venue to announce the launch of their forthcoming 'Unforgettable tour" as, they have now developed special affinity for this City, more so after their last visit in January for the World Premier of 'Guru'.
"It was very, very cold that evening, something that we are not used to, coming from Mumbai," said Abhishek. "When we reached the Elgin Theater and we got off the car, people had been waiting in that cold weather for hours. We had problems walking from the car into the theater as it was so cold. Just imagine the plight of the audience."
That, Abhishek said, "Left a lasting impression on us. And so whenever we have the opportunity to come here and do any sort of work or an event it is overwhelming."
There were also questions about their being aloof from the media and that sometimes creates misunderstanding between two sides. Both Abhishek and Aishwarya disagreed, "I interact with the media," said Abhishek. "It is a relationship between an actor and the media and their regard for each other. We are part of the same medium. Film is type of media. We must co-exist and work together."
To prove his point in more practical terms, at one stage the moderator moved to end the media briefing but this reporter sitting on the front row could see Abhishek said let them continue (to ask more questions).
"We are here as it gives us an opportunity to interact with you to answer some of your questions and acquaint ourselves about you and we do that open-heartedly. As an actor you are in front of the camera every day. So, once in a while you do it in person," explained Abhishek.
Aishwarya also emphasized, "We are genuinely interested for an active interaction with the media but we are invariably restricted by our schedules which are charted for us by the organizers of whichever event we attend."
At this stage Abhishek intervened laughing, "What she's saying is it is not our fault."
But Aishwarya was not to be deterred from having her own last word, "It is not because of what happens in the press and creates the frenzy. It is not our fault invariably that we can't speak with the media that results in misunderstanding."
