As Mankatha is a sort of milestone in Ajith's career, the actor and the director held long discussions about how he should look in the film, and finally it was Venkat Prabhu's idea to give Ajith the George Clooney look, which is in keeping with the handsome actor's off-screen persona.
Ajith's heroine in the film is Trisha; they had worked together in the Malayalam remake of Kireedom too.
Mankatha is one of the eagerly awaited films of this year, together with Suriya's 7am Arivu, directed by Murugadoss, and Vijay's Velayudham directed by Raja.
