After Papanasam, Kamal Haasan gets ready for Thoongavanam

A lowdown on all the goings-on in the Tamil film industry.

The shooting for Kamal Haasan's bilingual film -- titled Thoongavanam in Tamil and Cheekati Rajyam in Telugu -- has been wrapped up after three months.

The film is the official remake of the French Film Sleepless Night (Nuit Blanche).

Produced by Kamal Haasan, the film is directed by his assistant Rajesh M Selva.

It also stars Trisha, Prakash Raj, Kishore and Asha Sarath, who essayed a significant role in the Papanasam (a remake of Malayalam film Drishyam). 

Ghibran has composed the music for the film, making it his fourth collaboration (after Vishwaroopam II, Uttama Villain and Papanasam) with Haasan.

Radhika Apte to star opposite Rajinikanth in his next film

Superstar Rajinikanth surprised everyone when he announced his next project with Pa Ranjith, a relative newcomer who has just two films (Attakathi and Madras) to his credit.  

The actor will play an ageing gangster. Actress Radhika Apte will play his heroine.

Radhika was recently seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s Bengali short film Ahalya. She was also a part of the critically acclaimed film Badlapur.

The rest of the cast includes Kalaiarasan of Madras fame. Attakathi Dinesh may play an important character in the film.

The talented Santhosh Narayanan will compose the music while cinematographer G Murali will be behind the camera. Both have previously worked with Ranjith in the past.

The film will be produced by Kailpuli S Dhanu.

Vikram's 10 Enradhukulla to release in October

Vikram's last release, I in January is one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2015 so far.  

The actor is now getting ready for his next release, 10 Enradhukulla.

It is directed by noted cinematographer-turned-director Vijay Milton, whose previous film Goli Soda was a huge hit.  

Produced by AR Murugadoss and Fox Star Studios, 10 Enradhukulla is a road thriller. Samantha will play the female lead. 

Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff has been roped in to play the antagonist.  

The film will also feature Pasupathy, Manobala and Ramadoss of Mundasupatti fame and the music is composed by D Imman.
