Amitabh Bachchan says there is no question of returning to politics.
I am "unsuited" for it, he said.
"I have already played the game of politics. I left it, conceding defeat. There is no question of returning," Bachchan, who is in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, with his family to celebrate New Year, told reporters on December 30.
"I am an emotional person and politics does not have any place for emotions. Therefore, I am not fit for the game of politics," added Bachchan, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Allahabad in the December 1984 general election. He resigned from Parliament three years later shortly after describing politics as a 'cesspool' in an interview to Khalid Mohamed.
Asked how Bollywood could recover from its current <A HREF="http://www.rediff.com/entertai/yearend.htm">debacle,</A> Bachchan said film scripts would have to improve as people were fed up with routine stuff.
Describing the "unfortunate" and increasing trend of body exposure and songs with double meaning in Hindi films, he said it was up to the politicians and Censor Board to tackle the issue. However, he hastened to add that such films did not impact on Indian culture. "India's culture is 5,000 years old," he declared. "It has never been affected in the past and will not be affected in the future."
