8 movies that may release on OTT soon

Last updated on: July 15, 2020 10:57 IST

With coronavirus dictating movie releases, one remains unsure when we will watch a film in a theatre again.

Yet, 2020's biggest releases wait patiently for their big screen opening.

Then, there are those which just may make their way to the OTT platform.

Joginder Tuteja lists 8 mid-budget films, which are either complete or on the verge of completion, and hence are the likely candidates for a straight-to-OTT arrival in the next few months.

An Anurag Basu film, Ludo has an ensemble cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Chehre

Chehre should have ideally released last year, but there were a few delays, the biggest being because lead actress Kriti Kharbanda made way for Krystle D'Souza.

Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, this crime thriller is directed by Rumi Jaffrey.

The Girl on the Train

Based on the namesake book and Hollywood movie, The Girl on the Train is a psychological thriller starring Parineeti Chopra.

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta (who made Te3n earlier), it was originally supposed to arrive in May.

Co-starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Kirti Kulhari, this film may arrive straight on OTT.

Indoo Ki Jawani

2020 was meant to be Kiara Advani's year with several films in her kitty.

She started off with the Netflix film Guilty.

She has also worked in a comedy called Indoo Ki Jawani, where she plays the titular character.

It has been directed by Abir Sengupta.

Mimi

Announced in August 2019, Mimi sees Kriti Sanon play a surrogate mother.

The film reunites the actress with her Luka Chuppi Producer Dinesh Vijan and Director Laxman Utekar.

Roohi Afza

When Producer Dinesh Vijan made Stree with Rajkummar Rao, it was a Rs 100 crore club blockbuster.

The team seems to have planned something similar with Roohi Afza, with Janhvi Kapoor in a double role alongside Rajkummar and Varun Sharma.

Hungama 2

When Priyadarshan made Hungama in 2003, the fun flick with Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, Rimi Sen and Paresh Rawal was an easy watch.

In the second part of this franchise, Priyan brings together Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash along with Shilpa Shetty and Paresh Rawal.

Khaali Peeli

The principal shooting of Khaali Peeli is complete.

Now, this Ishaan Khatter-Ananya Panday film, co-starring Pataal Lok star Jaideep Ahlawat and Satish Kaushik, is in the post production stage.

As Director Maqbool Khan works on this comedy, we await an announcement from Producers Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra.

Please note: There is no announcement yet about any of these films opting for a digital release.
