'The memories of Kargil war is still afresh in the minds of Indians'

Why did you decide to base Kurukshetra on the Kargil war?

Kurukshetra is highly relevant because it says about an important episode in the history of our nation. The memories of Kargil war is still afresh in the minds of Indians. We stood together as a single force during the time. There were no religious differences between our people during the time of war.

Why can't we have such a situation all the time? In fact I have this feeling that we Indians are more peace loving people than our enemies. I also believe that we all should have the national flag in our homes.

As for Kurukshetra, it is a wholesome entertainer.

What is the advantage of making films based on your own experiences as a soldier?

Both Kirtichakra and Mission 90 Days were based on my experiences during my stint in the Indian Army. I have tried to convey certain messages to the viewers through my films.

While Kirtichakrafocussed on our national spirit, which goes beyond the barriers of religion, Mission 90 Days, on the other hand focussed essentially on individuals who prioritise personal gains even during a crisis situation.
