rediff.com: Exclusive: Lal Jose's Tamil debut

There are over a hundred characters in the film, mostly fresh faces. Only Biju Menon, Cochin Haneefa, Salimkumar and Charlie include the experienced line of actors. Rima Kallingal, a beauty contest winner makes her debut in Mazhai Varapoguthu as the heroine. She plays Chembakam, who rears goats. Anand Swamy is the hero.

The first half of the film zooms in on the fag end of the 80s while the second half focusses on the present (when a shooting party reaches the village). The locations include Theni, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Madurai.
