Bad news for television viewers. From Monday onwards, all the entertainment channels will be beaming re-runs of their favourite soaps.
The decision came after workers from different unions stuck to their demands for wage settlement against television producers who failed to keep their promise on wage hike.
The workers had called a strike earlier. Their demand was a rate card for every person.
In their defence, producers blamed the channels for the situation. They say that since the channels are not ready to pay, they cannot do anything about it.
"The shooting of Bidaai has been called off. We will resume only once we get a go ahead from the association," Rajan Sahai, the producer of the famous serial on Star Plus, said.
Meanwhile, all the channel heads have called an urgent meeting in Mumbai to sort out the problem and they are likely to address the media later in the evening.
