Mumbai's date with international cinema, the 10th edition of MAMI (Mumbai Academy of the Moving Images) will showcase 140 movies from 45 countries. Some of the best attractions include Christian Mungio's Romanian classic 4 months, 3 weeks And 2 days, Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda's Oscar-nominated Katyn, and quite a few from Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura.
In fact, the legendary Saura will be conferred the festival's Global Lifetime Achievement Award.
The festival will also screen Wajda's Hunting Files, Landscape After The Battle, Man Of Marbles, The Iron Man and Ashes And Diamond.
On the home front, art director Sameer Chanda's directorial debut, Tale Of A River -- a touching tale of a father-daughter relationship -- will be screened.
A short film competition is also being introduced in MAMI this year. The best entry will receive a cash prize of Rs 1, 50,000.
The festival -- from March 6 to 13 -- will be held at IMAX Wadala, Cinemax (Versova), Metro Adlabs [Get Quote] (Marine Lines). Passes can be collected at the above venues.
