Directed by veteran filmmaker Sai Prakash, Citizen is dialogue king Sai Kumar's 50th film He plays a policeman once again in this film. Unfortunately, it fails to deliver.
The film has plenty of weak points, starting with producer C V Reddy's bad script and Prakash's poor handling of the subject. In these days, when South Indian films try to score over each other in technical areas, Citizen's narration reminds you of films made in the 1960s, when there were no technical equipments to enhance films.
The story tells nothing new; you have seen it all before -- from the fire sequences to the fight scenes. Sai Kumar himself has done similar scenes in his earlier films.
The film revolves around tough cop Bharat, who does not compromise on anything. He gets transferred to Durgapur in Bellary district, which is under the control of a don called Simhadri. After facing many humiliations, Bharat decides to fight Simhadri valiantly.
Sai Kumar does an average job, as he has done similar roles before. Heroine Vaibhavi is wasted in the film. Ashish Vidyarthi, who plays Simhadri, is very predictable. The rest of the cast have delivered below average performances.
Vandemaataram Srinivas's music and Manohar's camerawork do not enhance the film. Avoid at all costs.
