Tamil actor Pandian died in a private hospital in Madurai on Thursday following liver failure and jaundice.
Pandian, 48, who acted in more than 75 movies, is survived by wife and son. He tasted success with his debut film Manvasanai, which was a big hit. The movie was directed by well-known director Bharatiraja. Pandian had joined the AIADMK party in 2001.
Hospital sources said he was admitted a few months ago for a kidney ailment and discharged after treatment. He was admitted to the hospital again on Wednesday and was being treated for hepatitis virus infection, the sources said.
In a press release at Chennai, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the death and recalled Pandian's services to the party.
