After Chak De! India released to a thunderous response on screen, the DVDs will soon be out on November 3, interestingly, a day after its star Shah Rukh Khan's [Images] birthday.
The collector edition DVD consists of a two-CD pack, and boasts of a load of goodies. The first DVD comprises of the entire film, running for about 152 minutes. The second DVD has special features, including scenes that were knocked off at the editing table -- 32 minutes of it!
"A lot of my scenes were left out on the editing table," says Vidya Malavde, who played the captain of the hockey team in the film. "I had some scenes with Shah Rukh that didn't make it to the big screen. You'll see those in the DVD."
"I keep joking that I'm going to make a DVD debut," says Arya, who plays Gul in the film. The young actress jokes about it now, but she was pretty upset when she learnt that her entire segment would be chopped off.
"I had a complete story in the movie, which was cut off," Arya says. "I play the granddaughter of a legendary hockey player, Vassar Iqbal. Her entire family was into hockey, so she's pressurised into following her grandfather's footsteps. Not only that, her family expects her to be the star of the team, which she isn't. I have scenes with Shah Rukh where he helps me deal with these issues."
In fact, Arya's Gul was Shilpa Shukla's (who played Bindiya) favourite character in the film.
"There were about 12 cans of film. That's some kind of record I think," says Anaitha (who played Aliya). "I'm sure (director) Shimit Amin won't let all that footage go to waste," says Chitrashi, who played Komal.
The DVD set also includes music videos of Kuch Kariye and Ek Hockey Doongi Rakhke, plus the making of the song.
"During the shoot of Ek Hockey Doongi Rakhke, there was a shot where we had to run down a slope," recalls Tanya (who played Balbir). "And I kept falling! Everyone would laugh; I was so embarrassed then but the whole deal seems funny now."
"Chak De's fans will be really excited with the content of the DVDs. There's enough of satisfy any fan!" said Sagarika (who played Preeti) exclaims.
