Chennai 600028, a pin code is an unusual title for a film. What made you name it so?
As you know I was born and brought up in Chennai 28, which is R A Puram. Actually the first title we had was Enga Area Ulle Varathu which roughly meant 'don't come into our territory'.
But according to the new rule of the TN government, we should not use any English words in the title. Since we had the word 'area' in our title, we racked our brains for a new one. That's when we decided to go with the pin code. An old TV serial Beverly Hills 90210 inspired us in this endeavour.
We also thought that the title was more apt and universal. It is a very Chennai film.
Because it is a very Chennai film, did you have any fears about the other parts of Tamil Nadu accepting the film?
Our only motto was that we should make an entertainer which the masses could enjoy. If a rural-based film like Paruthiveeran could do well in the city multiplexes, why wouldn't a Chennai based film succeed as well in other parts of Tamil Nadu?
