Should Gujarat watch Parzania?

Get Movies updates:What's this?

Rahul Dholakia's Parzania, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika, showed the tragic true story of a Parsi couple who lost their son in the 2002 Gujarat riots.

But despite rave reviews, the film is not being screened in the state. There is no official 'ban,' but cinema hall owners seem to have developed cold feet over the movie. Why? Your guess is as good as ours.

Earlier, Aamir Khan's Fanaa had a similar fate in Gujarat, because the actor had spoken out about the sensitive Narmada dam issue.

Madhur Bhandarkar's Traffic Signal faces a ban in Himachal Pradesh because, apparently, he used the word kinnar to refer to eunuchs; Kinnaur is a district in Himachal Pradesh.

Do you think this is a healthy trend? Do you think such arbitrary censorship -- for want of a better phrase -- is justified?
