R Madhavan is on a high. After great reviews from Guru, he has bagged a Deepa Mehta film called Stella.
"It is a proud moment for me," he says. But he is pleasantly surprised that it's in the news already.
Maddy met Deepa when he went to Toronto for the premiere of Guru. "She mentioned that I should do a film with her and I am keen on that," the actor, who is shooting a Tamil film in Hyderabad, said happily.
"This project will show that South Indian actors are coming of age; it is appreciation of the work we do. I hope the project works out. If it does, we will become pan-global actors. It will be a feather in my cap," he says.
Talking more about the film, Madhavan explained that Stella would be a comedy. "Deepa and I had an informal conversation about Stella but I did not know she was signing Vidya Balan too," Madhavan explains. "She had asked me to keep a month -- tentatively September -- free, and I have done so. I don't know anything about the film yet. The details will be worked out only after the Oscars."
Deepa is currently busy promoting her Oscar-nominated film, Water, for the 79th Annual Academy Awards. The ceremony will be held on February 25.
