Letters and gifts have started pouring in for Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan at Mumbai's Juhu post office.

Fans have sent mail from Nasik, Allahabad (Bachchan's hometown) and even London and New York. The mail -- ranging from post cards, sealed packages, big boxes, airmail, and speed post -- are essentially wishing the young couple well.

It may sound redundant to some of us who are used to e-mails, but some of these mails come from die-hard fans of the Bachchans.

"Letters have started pouring in today," V D Gaikwad, a postman at the Juhu post office, says. "More will follow in the next two days and after the wedding on April 20.

"Bachchan is the most popular actor residing in Juhu," the postman adds. "He receives about 100 mails daily. On occasions like this, the number can double or even triple. When Abhishek got engaged in January, some fans even sent sample wedding cards, requesting the Bachchans to make their card look the same."

The designs on the postcards are quite innovative: some have an arrow in a heart, with 'A weds A' inscribed in it, some address mail to the 'Pride of India,' while others have penned poems praising the Bachchans.

Incidentally, the second most popular star address is Hrithik Roshan, who gets about 50 mails daily.

So do the Bachchans actually read the mails they get from fans?

"Of course," says B B Gaikwad, another postman. "They have appointed two people to look after the mails and reply to them. Bachchan's secretary Rosy looks after the mails that come to his Jalsa residence, while Ramdas looks into the letters that come to Prateeksha."

So what happens when Aishwarya becomes a member of the Bachchan family? "Our work will surely increase," Gaikwad smiles.
