Veteran Tollywood actor Jnaesh Mukherjee died on Wednesday evening after he suffered a massive cardiac failure, family sources said.
He was taken to a private nursing home at 1630 hours in south Kolkata after complaining of chest pain. But the physicians declared him brought dead, sources said.
He was 79 and is survived by his son, daughter in-law and a grandchild. His wife died three years ago.
The actor was to be 80 on July 5. He had figured in more than a hundred films and many serials in small screen in recent years.
Ganga, Ajantrick, Meghe Dhake Tara are some of the movies made by famous directors where he etched out his name in character roles.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya has mourned the death of the actor.
The last rites would be held on Thursday.
