If Gowtham Menon's first cop film Kaakha Kaakha is still talked about, it is because of its sophistication. Naturally, his second film about the police, Vettayadu Vilayadu, with Kamal Haasan [Images] as an officer, is eagerly awaited. It has also been a long time since Kamal donned a uniform on screen.
Once shooting began, there was a lot of speculation on who Kamal's second heroine would be. Menon had announced that Jyothika would be Kamal's love interest. He had said, "Jo is a very good actress, and human being. She knows Tamil. I have a very good rapport with her. I would rather work with somebody I am comfortable with. Kamal Haasan also said he had done a film with her, and would love to do another."
But the debate was on who would be Kamal's wife. It was first reported that Nayanthara would bag the role, but she could not spare any dates. Now, after considering many names, the director has finally selected Kamalinee Mukherjee.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, Kamalinee played Shilpa Shetty's [Images] younger sister in Revathy's Phir Milenge. She is also a well known Bharatnatyam dancer and model. After Phir Milenge, she worked in Sekhar Kanmula's Telugu hit, Anand. Her latest film in Telugu is Style with Prabhu Deva [Images] and Lawrence.
Vettayadu Vilayadu is scheduled to be released on April 14.
