Actress Manisha Koirala [Images] has been provided police protection in the wake of protests following a media report claiming she had named her dog after a revered Muslim figure.

Policemen have been deployed at Koirala's home in suburban Mumbai to prevent any untoward incident following the protests, Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari told PTI on Tuesday.

The police, however, said the actress does not have a dog.
