The two hits of Tamil actor 'Jeyam' Ravi, Jeyam and M Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi, were remakes of Telugu films.
Now, for the first time, Ravi has signed an original Tamil film.
The question doing the rounds is whether he will complete a hat-trick or share the same fate as Dhanush, who had gone on a signing spree after the success of his first two films.
Dass, Ravi's next release, is an action flick -- new territory for Ravi. So far, he has played only romantic roles. Whether the Tamil audience accepts him in his new role remains to be seen.
Ravi plays a football player in Dass. Perfectionist that he is, he took special training in the game.
Directed by debutant director Babu Yogeswaran, Dass is about the love affair between a Christian boy and a Hindu girl, who take refuge in a Muslim's house.
The film was first titled Rascal, but it was changed to the name of Ravi's character in the film. Malayali actress Renuka Menon plays his love interest.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music .
Ravi's next release will be Ithaya Thirudan, for K Balachander's production house Kavithalaya.
