A year ago, Gwyneth Paltrow had a great career and an Oscar gleaming on her mantle.
Marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and the birth of their daughter Apple this May prompted a new career: wife and mother.
The 31-year-old actress will be seen next week as the reporter Polly Perkins, who notices the disappearance of many world famous scientists, in Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, directed by first-timer Kerry Conran.
The film costars Jude Law and Angelina Jolie. It has archival footage of the legendary actor Laurence Olivier and releases September 17.
But, as Gywneth told People magazine, Apple is the 'best thing that ever happened' to her, adding, motherhood and finding the right man gives her more happiness and a feeling of being complete than winning an Oscar.
Apple, who is teething right now, she says, is 'a pretty good sleeper and she was having a big chunk of sleep a night from six weeks on.'
Family, she says, will be her first priority now, adding, she never felt that her mother, actress Blythe Danner, wasn't around during her growing years, adding she could always go to her for anything.
Gwyneth notes she will get back to a full-time career, though she doesn't know when, but rules out multiple films a year. She would like to work in cameos or a 'tiny part in something else.'
