I'll have an Uma Thurman, please,' you instruct the waiter, 'with the dressing on the side.'
Well, it's not quite as simple as that yet, but even today, online auction site eBay allows pretty much anything for grabs.
In a recent charity auction, fans were given the opportunity to bid on dinner parties with stars like Ben Affleck, Leo DiCaprio, Benjamin Bratt and Sarah Jessica Parker.
The one who inspired the largest bid, however, was Ricky Martin.
Jody Lang, a 34-year-old consultant, was so wild about the Latin singer that she bid $47,200 for him, and dined with him at Chef Allen's in Florida last weekend.
A slightly nonplussed but obviously flattered Ricky Martin told People magazine: 'We were thinking about it on the way (to the restaurant) and it's like, what are we going to do, we have to do something besides this.'
Lang, dressed in red for the eventful dinner, was content enough to just eat with her dream-beau.
'It's a ton of money, but it's a dream come true and an opportunity of a lifetime,' she said. 'For that, I don't know if you can really put a price on it. He represents so much to me. He's an international spokesman who works with children. I'm an avid salsa and Latin dancer. I love his music. At his shows, he has a way to bring everyone together no matter what your background. He has this infectious power that is just beautiful.'
And, 'he's taller than I thought.'
