One more season with Raymond!

rediff.com Entertainment Bureau | May 18, 2004 17:54 IST

Ray RomanoBye Bye Friends. Say hello to Raymond.

The popular TV sitcom on CBS — Everybody Loves Raymond — will return to complete its ninth and final season, reports People magazine.

Like Friends, the final season of Raymond will feature fewer episodes: 16 instead of the usual 22.

Raymond star Ray Romano and creator and producer Phil Rosenthal had earlier spoken of calling it a day. But when the writers came up with some interesting new ideas, Rosenthal decided to give it a go.

The 46 year-old Romano, who plays a sports columnist in the series, reportedly earns a salary of between $1.7 million and $2 million per episode.
