Batman returns!

rediff Entertainment Bureau | March 05, 2004 16:11 IST

Guess where Batman has headed to now? Shooting on a new instalment of the caped crusader, Batman Begins, is under way in Iceland, reports msn.com.

And no, it is not Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer or George Clooney. It stars American Psycho star Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, caretaker of Gotham City. The film will then be shot in London and Chicago.

Interestingly, it will be helmed by Memento and Insomnia director, the British Christopher Nolan. Other stars are Michael Caine (Bruce Wayne's trusted butler Alfred); Gary Oldman (Lt James Gordon, the younger Commissioner Gordon); Katie Holmes (Wayne's childhood friend); Liam Neeson (Batman's mentor); Morgan Freeman (a disgruntled employee of Wayne Enterprises); and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) as the wicked Ra's Al Ghul.

The film is scheduled to release summer 2005.
