Actor Shakti Kapoor was allegedly beaten up by two friends following a drunken brawl in Kolkata.

The incident occured in the early hours of Tuesday at the hotel where Kapoor was staying. The three had reportedly broken into an argument after dinner.

Kapoor, who was in the city to shoot for a Bengali film, had filed a complaint with the Bhowanipore police station following the attack. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Anuj Sharma said the assailants, who are owners of a city-based video parlour, were arrested. He added that the accused are now out on bail, and that an investigation into the incident is on.

Hotel authorities where Kapoor was staying refused to comment, simply saying that the actor had already checked out. Kapoor has since left the city.
