Akshay Kumar was labelled an action hero when he entered the film industry. But the actor loves experimenting. He played a villain in Ajnabee, a blind man in Aankhen, a comic role in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and a man wrongly indicted for rape by his boss's wife in Aitraaz. Akshay has done it all.

The actor will play a prisoner of war in Anil Sharma's Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon, which releases on December 24.

Akshay speaks to News Editor (Entertainment) Syed Firdaus Ashraf about why he wants to break free from the action image.

I have done enough action films. I am financially satisfied, so I can experiment with different and exciting cinema. Routine stuff is getting boring.

But let me clarify that I will not stop doing action films completely. I will do at least one action film every year because of my fans. This is my promise to them.
