rediff Entertainment Breau | April 22, 2004 16:38 IST

A still from The Passion of the ChristEven after being declared a success, Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ continues to make news.

The film, which has grossed about $360 million in North America, may not be broadcast by leading networks like Fox, NBC, ABC, and CBS, says People magazine.

ABC has confirmed its decision not to air the 'excessively violent' Jim Caviezel-starrer. People quotes ABC spokesman Kevin Brockman saying, "We are not doing it."

After the infamous Janet Jackson SuperBowl fiasco, United States government officials are taking no chances with content aired on television.
