Bachchan to be honoured at international film fest

Amitabh BachchanThe Marrakech film festival in Rabat, Morocco, will honour Amitabh Bachchan along with actors and directors from Hollywood and other countries.

American director Ridley Scott, who has shot at least two films in Morocco; Oliver Stone, who will film his Alexander epic in the desert country; French actor Alain Delon; Egyptian actress Youssra and Moroccan actress Amina Rachid will also be felicitated at a series of tributes during the festival, which will be held at Ochre city from October 3 to 8, said the organisers.

French actress Nathalie Baye will host the presentation ceremony, which will include the screening of the Moroccan movie Mille Moisv (One hundred months), directed by Faouzi Bensaidi.

The short movie selection jury will include artistes and intellectuals from India, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, France and Morocco. Oscar-winning director Schlondorff and British actor Jeremy Irons are part of the jury.

A special tribute will be paid to the late French director and film critic, Daniel Toscan du Plantier, who helped organise two of the festival's editions.

Organisers have selected around 73 films from over 1,000 movies and 200 short
films entries to screen at the festival.
